“Maldives… the sunny side of life” is showcased at the 37th annual FITUR fair from 18th to 21st January 2017 at Madrid, Spain. This year Maldives will be represented by 29 participants from 15 companies which includes hotels, resorts and safari operators in a 64sqm area located in Hall 6 (Stand Number: 6E18). 
FITUR is one of the biggest global platforms for leading travel trade professionals for inbound and outbound markets. The first three days of the fair is solely for trade visitor and the last two days are for both trade visitors and public. Last year, FITUR achieved total of 231,872 visitors in which 124,659 were trade visitors. This was a growth of 2% compared to 2015. Furthermore, the international representations in the previous two additions have shown a growth of 75% and 12% respectively.
Additionally, this year FITUR is expected to see a growth of 9% in international exhibitors.
FITUR’s position is strengthened by the Madrid-based World Tourism Organization as a key worldwide standard for the industry, adding the central event kicking off the international Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and the presentation of the International Awards for Excellence and Innovation.
Tourist arrivals to Maldives from Spain had increased by 29.1% during the period of January to November 2016. FITUR 2017, will be a platform where the products of Maldives are further promoted to this target market. It is expected that our participation in FITUR will contribute to the continuous growth in this market segment.
