The Nautilus Maldives Wins Award for ‘Hottest Independent Hotel’ in the World

The Nautilus Maldives Wins Award for ‘Hottest Independent Hotel’ in the World

The Nautilus, a luxury beach and ocean resort in the Maldives, has won a ‘Hottest Independent Hotel’ award in the 2018 Vision Style Awards.

The Awards, which are run by global textiles giant Vision Support Services, are an online incentive aimed at rewarding and recognising excellence in the interior design of hotels, restaurants, spas and bars around the world.

The resort has 26 private beach and ocean houses and is located on its privately-owned island in the heart of Baa Atoll; centrally situated in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The luxury resort also includes private pools, ocean views, tropical greenery, three restaurants and a poolside bar.

The Awards were judged by a number of renowned and esteemed professionals from across the hospitality and travel industry including:

  • Lori Pinkerton-Rolet – Director of Park Grove Design
  • Mark Wynne – International Sales Director for Vision’s Hospitality Division
  • Nigel Haworth – Chef and Ambassador to the Northcote Group
  • Abigail King – Award-Winning Photographer, Journalist and Blogger
  • Bill Lumley – Editor of Luxury B&B Magazine
  • Fraser Donaldson – Group Hospitality Sales & Marketing Director for Vision Support Services

The judges sat down and deliberated over three finalists, from each of the seven categories, in order to crown their final seven winners.

The judges said: “This makes it look so easy to be there – a sense of peace of mind added by the symmetry of the bedroom and lounge.”

Fraser Donaldson, Group Hospitality Sales & Marketing Director for Vision, said: “The Awards are in their sixth year now – and it’s astounding to see how much they grow year-on-year. Last year, we opened our search up to include Europe and this year, for the first time, we opened our search up to include worldwide entries.

The entries we’ve seen this year have reached far and wide and it’s fantastic to see that the winners, and finalists, span almost every continent. These awards are testament to the skill, hard work and determination of hoteliers and owners and we’re very proud to be able to reward each and every one of them.”

The winners of each of the seven categories will each receive a glass trophy and certificate, choice of champagne or hamper and cash voucher. They will also receive a double-page spread in Vision’s annual look-book and guide to hospitality interiors, The Vision Style Guide, due to be published in early 2019.
