While locals joined hands in celebrating the 54th year of independence, staff of Fushifaru Maldives took pride to promote the heritage and culture from the Maldives islands around the globe.
This unique country has diverse elements still unknown and unexplored by people that travel to the destination, and with an intention to promote the culture, Fushifaru Maldives organized a day that truly enhanced guest holiday experience.
Some of the activities for Independence Day include flag hoisting ceremony with Go Coconut show in the cultural center Eghamugge, cultural dance Boduberu and introduction of local cuisines platter “Malaafaiy” at Korakali Restaurant. At the cultural center – Eghamugge, a replica of the old traditional local homes made out of coconut palm leaves, we take our guests on the journey of coconuts and Maldivian lifestyle in local islands every Friday. This Independence day, activities began with flag hoisting and cake cutting ceremony to kick-start the celebrations! “Malafaiy” was served at Korakali Restaurant this Independence Day with residents dressed up in Divehi Libaas and Sarongs. Local musical talents were featured while guests enjoyed the local cuisines, for a wholesome celebratory experience.
Maldivian history with Boduberu performance- Faanhandi concluded the night with energetic drums and chorus-singing of meaningful songs where guests and performers enjoyed special traditional dance to the beats. There were lots of exciting activities such as kids treasure hunt, face painting, cake cutting ceremony and much more!
